Home Our Work Nueva Vida School

DSCF8453Threefold has been supporting this school for a number of years now. It is located in the poorest barrio (neighbourhood) in Nicaragua and the children of the school would not receive education without the support of Threefold. There are six grades, 206 students and, as of this month, 25 new graduates!

Through your generous support we have been able to pay all of the teachers' salaries, provide learning materials and arrange for a daily feeding program for the children. The sign reads "New Life in Christ Baptist School's third Grade Six graduating class. New Life in Christ Baptist School dedicates this commencement ceremony to St Andrew's Church. May God bless the people of your church."

Education in Nicaragua is very basic and in the rural areas many children fail to complete even five years of schooling. Without our help many of the children in Pastor Silva's school would not have an opportunity to gain even basic skills.

Children in Nicaragua are required to attend school from age 6 to age 12 in a primary school and upon graduation are awarded a "Diploma de Educación Primaria".

According to UNICEF statistics only slightly over 60% of children actually complete grade five and only 40% go on to secondary education.

Training of pre-primary and primary/basic school teachers: A five-year secondary level course on completion of primary education consisting of three years' general education followed by two years' specialization leads to the Diploma de Maestro de Educación Primaria. It takes place in Escuelas Normales.

Threefold Ministries works closely with Pastor Adan Reinosa Silva of Nueva Vida en Cristo Church. With our assistance Pastor Silva is able to operate a church school providing education for students up to grade five.
