What does it cost?

Fixed costs:

  • A 10 day trip costs $2000 CAN
  • A 2 week trip costs $2300 CAN

This covers all your expenses for room and board, transportation, administrative costs, 3-fold team leaders and translators/drivers. The only additional money you will need is for personal spending for souvenirs, etc. All arrangements including flights are made through 3-fold Ministries.

Additional optional costs:

We encourage each team to raise the necessary funds to cover the cost of the materials for your chosen project. This amount is dependent upon the project your team decides to embrace and will be negotiated on your behalf by 3-fold. Each team is also encouraged to bring at least 1 medi-pak for every ten participants on the team. Each medi-pak costs $750 CAN and contains between $4500 and $5500 worth of prescription and non-prescription medicine. All medi-paks are arranged by 3-fold through Health Partners International.

How do I pay for these costs?

Each team member is responsible for the total cost of their trip. However, our experience has been that most often, an enthusiastic team has been able to raise the total cost of their Mission Trip.

3-fold is able to provide some guidance and suggestions in this area.

We ask that each team member bring 2 Hockey Bags (50 lbs) full of either: school, medical and/or hygiene supplies that we can distribute to the children of Nicaragua. 3-fold will provide a list of the most needed items when your team is scheduled to go.

Where will I be staying?

You will be housed in a safe, newly constructed, modern day, dorm-like facility. These comfortable dorms are gender specific and have their own, selfcontained private bathrooms with showers. Some special accommodation can be made for married couples or those with special needs but 3-fold reserves the right to assign accommodation.

Your meals will be prepared and served on site in our dining facility by our Nicaraguan staff. Meals are healthy and wholesome, being somewhat similar to our Canadian fare with emphasis on Nicaraguan flavouring. We are a Christian retreat centre and as such we require that all guests adhere to a respectable code of conduct.

How long will I be going for?

We have found that a 10 day trip is usually ideal. However, we do recognize the time constraints that some teams may be under, so shorter or longer trips can usually be accommodated, with sufficient notice.

Preparing to go!
  • Passport – up-to-date?
  • Ensure that your vaccinations are up-to-date.Usually Hepatitis and Tetanus are the minimal suggestions, check with your Medical Doctor several weeks before departure.
  • Travel Insurance.
  • Desire and Passion to impact the lives of the Nicaraguan people.
  • Funding in place.
What will I be doing?

Primarily, we are going to enrich the lives of the Nicaraguan people. How that is accomplished is dependant upon the focus of YOUR particular trip. However, each team that travels to Nicaragua should expect to experience 3 different components while there:

Ministry – Frontline, hands on ministry, being a camp leader, praying for children at the Children’s Hospital.

Work – Physical labour, painting, cleaning or construction.

new-15

Exposure – To see first hand the culture and lifestyles of the local Nicaraguan people.

How do I pack!

In a word - Lightly!

You may want to keep the following in mind as you pack for your Missions Trip:

  • Dress for the climate - HOT!
Light clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat and a water bottle to carry with you.
  • Depending on the nature of your trip, we will advise you of the appropriate clothing for your experience, i. e. jobsites, kids camps, etc.
  • Don't forget your Bible and notepad to help record journaling and memories of your trip.
  • Leave ALL valuables at home, we would never want to flaunt even an appearance of wealth, in this developing country.
  • Washroom facilities are not always like ours in Canada. It would be a good idea to have hand sanitizer and travel packs of tissues with you.

Hockey Bags

We ask that each team member bring 2 bags of the necessary items recommended at the time of your trip, i. e. school supplies, medi-paks, toys, etc.

Identification

Before leaving Canada, its always a good idea to make duplicate copies of your Passport and Birth Certificate, one copy to leave at home, another to pack separately in your luggage.
